LOL!!!!!!!!!!
I’m always honored if I can bring a smile to your face.
I sure hope it was meant to be funny. I laughed immediately and out loud though I be by myself. 🙂
lol…that’s the best kind of laughter! I wrote it just as a quick response to the “monday melting” prompt and only invested about 3 minutes… just writing down what came to me with the words she listed….I honestly didn’t think about meanings beyond sailing…lol…but it definitely has some fun to it!
I knew the prompts from Shawna’s post so, yes,
“mast-of-Don’s” and “primitive pleasure” are quite witty.
snort…nice word play on mastadon….and i would def enjoy a bit of sailing…smiles…
Glad you enjoyed. And I literally did mean sailing…lol…though I’m certain some will read more into it. I love being on the water but rarely get a chance to do so!
Primitive pleasures…but so enjoyable rrrright? Love the haiku!
Thanks Wendell!
Ohhh–nicely done!
Thanks Audrey!
I cannot tell you how brilliant this is. Your placement of that second picture completely changes the meaning. We think he’s looking forward to sailing out on the open water, enjoying some free time away from stresses, being alone. But as he’s preparing to sail, she’s painting the water directly into her lap—where he will soon land.
What a clever repurposing of “mastodon.” I considered going backwards and using “nod to Sam,” but it wasn’t in the cards. 🙂
LOVE this, especially the way you integrated the pictures into your poetry.
Being honest, I didn’t think of that…lol. I added the second picture b/c I remembered what a cool pic you had posted and realized it would fit nicely with this little haiku. But yes, now he can sail straight to her! So glad you made that observation.
Sorry I wasn’t able to incorporate more of the words into this poem. Always enjoy participating though!
I didn’t even see the second picture. Interesting.
I think I may have added it after your original comment. I really “flew” to get the post up so I could meet the 2 p.m. “opening” of dverse. I added some pics & text after linking.
Oh good! I thought I had used up all my brain power taking Shawna’s test. 🙂
LOL…that is quite a test! I’m wondering if we got “hung up” on the same 3 questions? I got bogged down on #’s 10-12.
11, 13, and 19. I should have been able to figure out 11 but I still don’t get the patterns in the other two. Alas, it’s been 30 years since I’ve done any kind of math, which I was once very good at. I should have waited for my son to come home from school to help me. 🙂
I love haiku, so I was excited to see this one. 🙂 Sorry I read more into your words than you had intended. I tend to do that!
I’m glad you “tend to do that” (read more into than what is written). I just wrote this one so quickly and literally (in my mind at least) , that I had not even considered some of the other meanings….I see it quite clearly now though! 🙂 You know I love your comments and I’m always interested to find out how “deep” you can make me seem…lol.
Ha! You gave me a chuckle at the end. 🙂
A three masted schooner might be disturbing. 😉
LOL….I’m preparing myself for all kinds of funny comments like this! So glad you visited and shared….funny stuff!
I snorted with laughter.
Very nice poetry. Still giggling.
LOL…I’m getting a huge kick out of these comments! Thanks!
Nice …I like that primitive pleasure ~
Fun, nice play on words, and I love that second photo.
Thanks Chris…great to hear from you!
Aweee, you did a haiku for this prompt. Love it.

Thanks 🙂 Can’t wait to read your poem!
Hilarious, and I love short poetry–can’t write it except once in a blue moon, but love reading it. Also, because I have a vile vile mind, I love the double entendre here, also.
And apparently I also love the world also, also. ;_)
Fun 🙂
The pictures really compliment this piece well..I love it!
Love the art, and the accompanying words. I like being on the water when I get the chance. I feel at home near it. Identified with the write.
Very nice! Love the photo. Makes me want to be laying on the deck.
I found it!!
lol, good one. Also, I really love that second picture!
Very lovely expression here. Hey NV!!! I’m happy to catch up with your blog. I’ve been sooooo busy but I just couldn’t go another day without visiting all my favourite sites. It’s always a delight to stop by here 🙂 I hope all is well…
